A Cambridge-based artisan bakery is set to sweeten Charlestown.

La Saison Bakery has announced plans to open a second location at 221 Main St, taking over the former Zume’s Coffee House space.

“We can’t wait to be part of another friendly, welcoming neighborhood as a local bakery, connecting and building communities through taste together,” said owners Soheil Fathi and Sarah Moridpour.

La Saison, which translates to ‘The Season’ in French, was originally established by Fathi in 2007 in Tehran, Iran. After moving to the United States, Fathi and his wife, Moridpour, revived the bakery in Cambridge.

A seasoned baker and passionate entrepreneur, Fathi is also the owner and pastry chef behind Cookie Box Group, a contemporary pastry company he launched from his home kitchen in 2000. Today, the brand has grown to four retail stores and serves over 400 businesses in Tehran.

La Saison offers a wide selection of daily-baked breads, cakes, and sweet treats, including cranberry-pecan sourdough loaves, croissants, Madagascar vanilla bean pound cakes, palmiers, marble brownies, and sourdough-crust pizzas.

While the Charlestown location is “coming soon,” an exact opening date has yet to be announced. Follow La Saison Bakery on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
