A local gourmet grocery store is expanding.
Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe, a longtime Cambridge staple, will soon bring its upscale offerings to The Street at Chestnut Hill. The news was recently shared in a social media update from the open-air shopping center: “Gourmet, this way 🍾🧀. Pop the champagne: @cardullosshoppe is coming soon to The Street!”
Situated next to WHEAT at 27 Boylston St, Cardullo’s newest location will offer a carefully curated selection of international and locally sourced delicacies, featuring gift boxes, chocolates, fine wines, cookies, snacks, and accompaniments. The store will also include Cardullo’s signature deli, serving hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, salads, and more.
Founded in 1950 by Frank N. Cardullo, the family-run institution remained under his family’s care for three generations. In 2015, the shop was sold to Rich and Kim Wilson, who passed ownership to restaurateur Joel Hidenfelter in late 2024. Hidenfelter is partnering with local hospitality group Flying Lion (Boston Halal, Don’t Tell Aunty, Madras Dosa Co.) to lead the next chapter for Cardullo’s.
According to an earlier Cambridge Day report, the new owners have big plans for the iconic market, including expanding online gift box sales, enhancing the stores’ social media presence, and implementing a new labeling system to improve the shopping experience.
Today, Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe operates two locations in Cambridge’s Harvard Square and Boston’s Seaport.
The Chesnut Hill location is expected to open in early 2026.
