A multi-concept food and craft beverage hall is expanding from the suburbs to the city.
Common Craft is opening a second location on the ground level of South Standard at 235 Old Colony Ave in South Boston, according to a recent “coming soon” Instagram post shared by the apartment development. “@commoncraftsouthie is coming soon to the ground level here at South Standard — and yes, they also have a speakeasy in the works,” the post teased, alongside a video of the under-construction space.
Founded by Larry Leibowitz, Common Craft opened in 2022 as a one-stop destination for food, drinks, and craft-focused experiences. The original Burlington Mall location brings together a scratch kitchen, two taprooms, and a speakeasy-style cocktail and wine bar all under one roof, designed to feel like several unique venues in a single space.
“When you visit Common Craft, you step into a carefully curated and rotating selection of hospitality experiences without ever leaving the building,” the company explains on its website. The concept also aims to champion independent craft producers, offering smaller brands a platform to stand out in an increasingly corporate-dominated beverage landscape.
The food menu features creative, globally inspired pub fare like Chicken & Waffles, Korean Short Rib Tacos, and a French Onion Burger, alongside flatbreads such as Sweet Heat, Margherita, and Potato. Starters include Pretzels with beer cheese, Mexican street corn dip, Brussels sprouts, and other shareable bites. Guests can also look forward to sandwiches, salads, and a selection of gluten-free options.
The South Boston outpost is expected to open sometime in early 2026. For updates leading up to the grand opening, follow @commoncraftsouthie on Instagram.
