Just over a month after debuting its first location in Billerica, Commune All Day Cafe is already preparing for its next chapter.
The globally inspired health and wellness café is expanding to Lexington, where it plans to take over the former Lexington Liquors space at 7 Depot Square. According to a recent Facebook announcement from Turnpike Market in Billerica, the permitting process is officially underway.
“Lexington has a remarkable history spanning over 250 years, and we’re excited to bring a fresh, thoughtfully designed café experience to the community,” the post reads. “Get ready to see one of the most beautiful retail café spaces the town has ever seen.”
Commune is owned by husband-and-wife duo Sam and Kinnari Patel, who also have operated Turnpike Market for the past 12 years. Before opening the Billerica café, Sam told What Now Boston that the concept was inspired by café cultures around the world, where thoughtfully designed gathering spaces seamlessly fit into everyday life.
That philosophy extends to the menu, which emphasizes wholesome ingredients and avoids fried foods and seed oils. Guests can expect George Howell coffee, smoothies with optional Promix protein, boba tea, açaí bowls, tacos, sandwiches, affogatos, gelato, and more. The Patels are also pursuing a liquor license for the Lexington location, which will allow them to serve beer and wine.
Like the original café, the new space will feature a bright, airy interior with warm, inviting touches. Kinnari personally selected the finishes and materials to create an environment that feels both elevated and cozy.
Commune All Day Cafe is expected to open in Lexington in the winter of 2026, with ample seating and daily hours stretching from early morning until 10 p.m.
The Patels aren’t stopping there, either. According to an earlier report from The Lexington Observer, the couple also hopes to bring a third Commune location to Carlisle, though a specific site and opening timeline have not yet been announced.
