A burgeoning chain of Mexican restaurants that originated as a food cart just outside of Washington, DC, is eyeing expansion into the local area.

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, District Taco is actively seeking franchise partners to establish multiple locations across Greater Boston.

In a press release, District Taco President and COO Chris Medhurst expressed excitement about introducing the eatery to New England, leveraging its successful track record across Virginia, Washington, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania since its inception in Rosslyn, Virginia in 2009.

Medhurst stated, “We believe Boston has an ideal mix of business and student communities, and a vibrant, growing population. We’re looking forward to bringing District Taco to New England and building on the success we’ve seen in other regions.”

District Taco is celebrated for its Yucatán-style Mexican cuisine, featuring a diverse menu of tacos, burritos, bowls, salads, quesadillas, and more. Its offerings also include options tailored for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.

Stay tuned for further updates as locations and franchise partnerships develop.
