A popular local tavern known for its extensive beer list and crowd-pleasing comfort food could soon add another location to the family.

Restaurateur Dylan Welsh, founder of Hawkeye Hospitality, is planning to open a new Five Horses Tavern outpost at 1121 Dorchester Ave in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester, reports Boston Restaurant Talk.

While Welsh has not yet confirmed the project with What Now Boston, a Google Business listing for the tavern at the Dorchester Ave address, as well as an earlier report from the Boston Business Journal, both point to plans for the new location.

Five Horses Tavern has built a reputation around an extensive craft beer program, featuring roughly 40 rotating draft beers and about 60 bottled selections sourced from breweries around the world. Behind the bar, guests will also find craft cocktails and a curated spirits selection.

The kitchen complements the drinks with modern American comfort fare made using locally sourced ingredients. The menu at existing locations includes favorites like wings, pizzas, burgers, tacos, salads, and wraps, alongside plenty of vegetarian options.

According to a public hearing notice, the proposed Dorchester tavern would span roughly 4,969 square feet. Plans call for a main dining room, a bar area, and a 459-square-foot outdoor patio with seating for about 40 guests. Total capacity would be 275 patrons, with 255 seats indoors and out.

If approved, the new location would join the tavern’s existing sites in Somerville’s Davis Square and Boston’s South End. Proposed hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends. The outdoor patio would close earlier, at 11 p.m. daily.

Five Horses Tavern is part of a broader portfolio from Hawkeye Hospitality, which also operates several neighborhood watering holes around Greater Boston. These include Elm Street Taproom in Somerville, Garrison House in Brookline Village, basement cocktail bar The Village Social Club, and Matchplay Golf & Sports Lounge in Andover.
