A Florida-based pizza joint is making its Massachusetts debut.
Slice House is expanding to Somerville’s Union Square, taking over the former site of Bull McCabe’s at 366 Somerville Ave. The sell-by-the-slice pizzeria currently operates three Florida locations, with one more in the works. The forthcoming Somerville shop will be the first outside the Sunshine State.
Marketing Manager Trevor Davis told What Now Boston that the new location will be company-owned, with Slice Brands LLC founders Phill and Elizabeth Mercer overseeing operations. The couple has even secured a residence in Cambridge to immerse themselves in the local culture and oversee the buildout and opening.
Known for its unique pizza combinations and high-quality ingredients, Slice House will bring its signature slice-only model to Somerville, offering more than 40 varieties along with a few “Boston-specific surprises.”
The menu features elevated takes on classic pies, such as the ‘Chee-sus,’ combining oil, garlic, mozzarella, and ricotta for a simple yet indulgent experience. Those craving something more decadent can try options like the ‘Zack Attack!’ which packs a punch with red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, shaved ribeye, apple cider bacon, jalapeños, raw cheddar, and a drizzle of ranch.
The Mercers also plan to preserve the spirit of the old Bull McCabe’s by maintaining a late-night bar vibe that’s unique to the Somerville spot.
Slice House is tentatively scheduled to open in late June 2025. Visit the company’s website to check out their existing stores, and follow the Union Square pizzeria on Instagram @unionsquareslice.
