A fast-growing protein shake concept is gearing up to make its Southborough debut.
Connecticut-based Fresh Monkee is “coming soon” to 18 Turnpike Rd, Suite 101, according to the company’s website. Franchisee Patrice Kontchou, who opened a nearby Westborough location last June, told What Now Boston he’s targeting a late spring 2026 opening, pending final construction and inspections.
Founded in 2014 by former athlete and single mother Judy Flynn, the fast-casual chain has earned a loyal following with its made-to-order protein shakes and smoothies, each packed with at least 20 grams of protein and crafted from all-natural ingredients.
The menu focuses on high-fiber, low-sugar blends made with real fruits, vegetables, and nut butters—without artificial sweeteners, syrups, or fillers—making every drink a convenient, better-for-you meal replacement.
The company operates more than 40 locations across 11 states, including seven in Massachusetts, with dozens more currently in development. Kontchou said the upcoming Southborough shop will span approximately 1,350 square feet, designed to offer a convenient, welcoming stop for customers seeking high-quality, nutritious options on the go—particularly those traveling along nearby Route 9.
Fresh Monkee’s menu features over 30 protein shake varieties, from indulgent picks like Almond Coco Loco, Caramel Coffee Buzz, and Chunkee Monkee to lighter, fruit-forward options like Lime Green Mango and Banana Split. Guests can also order Monkee Ballz—bite-sized protein snacks—or treat their four-legged friends to a Puppy Shake.
“We’re excited about this next step and the opportunity to serve the Southborough community,” said Kontchou. “Our mission remains the same: making healthy eating convenient and accessible. I think 118 Turnpike will serve that mission very well as it’s an easy stop from Route 9.”
