A Mexican restaurant in Sudbury is gearing up for a major transformation, as its owners prepare to introduce a fresh concept in its place.
Sobre Mesa will soon close its doors at 29 Hudson Rd in Sudbury Town Square to make way for Sul Tavolo, a reimagined Italian kitchen created by Chef Jordan Mackey and his wife Reanna (Nan) of Nan’s Kitchen.
Inspired by Oaxaca and the coast of Mexico, Sobre Mesa debuted in 2021 as a laid-back eatery and mezcal bar. Now, the Mackeys are ready to pivot, embracing a concept they believe better aligns with the community’s tastes.
Originally launching as a pasta, pizza, and natural wine pop-up, Sul Tavolo—meaning “On the Table”—is transforming into a full-fledged restaurant. According to a press release, the eatery will offer the “warm, cozy goodness of Italian cuisine” in Sobre Mesa’s casual and inviting space.
The menu will feature wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas that are “better than your nonna’s,” fresh salads, and Italian staples like arancini and burrata with tomatoes. A thoughtfully curated wine list will highlight natural wines and “glou-glou goodness,” reflecting Chef Mackey’s passion for exceptional pairings.
“We are excited to go back to our roots a bit and serve-up as we go into 2025…” shared Chef Mackey. “Sobre Mesa has served as an awesome retreat over the years and will sunset after the New Year. There will be no disruption in regular service hours.”
Sobre Mesa will serve its final guests during the first week of January 2025, with Sul Tavolo set to officially open on January 15. Stay in the loop by following @sultavolosudbury on Instagram.
