A local Haitian-American food truck is expanding.
According to The Dorchester Reporter, Nathalie LeCorps of Gourmet Kreyòl recently revealed plans to open two brick-and-mortar locations to the Codman Square Neighborhood Council (CSNC).
The food truck owner plans to launch a 49-seat restaurant with an all-alcohol liquor license at 657 Washington St in Codman Square, taking over the space previously occupied by Next Step Soul Food Café.
“There are a lot of Caribbean restaurants in Dorchester, but the twist is we would like to have a really nice sit-down restaurant that is friendly to families and a place to gather and come together as a community instead of going outside the community,” LeCorps explained.
In addition to the sit-down restaurant, she plans to launch a fast-casual takeout eatery at 1210 Blue Hill Ave in Mattapan, formerly home to Caribbean Flavors Restaurant.
Gourmet Kreyòl was founded by LeCorps’ parents in Miami before she brought the business to Boston. The food truck features a variety of Haitian-American dishes, including plantain sandwiches, fried chicken, and assorted bowls, with a vision of becoming the “Chipotle of Haitian food.”
LeCorps told What Now Boston that both restaurants are slated to open in the spring of 2025, with renovations already underway.
