A health-forward Haverhill favorite is expanding to downtown Andover.

Hummingbird Nutritious Eats is opening a second location at 10-12 Main St, confirmed co-founders and chefs Matthew Morello and Chris White.

“We cannot wait to bring tasty and nutritious meals, snacks, sweet treats, and so much MORE to another local community!!” the duo wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone that has supported us so far on this journey!! ❤❤❤ We are so grateful!!”

Originally from England, White has trained in Michelin-starred kitchens and five-star hotels, bringing a worldly perspective to Hummingbird’s globally-inspired menu. Morello, a New England native who honed his craft in top restaurants across New York and Chicago, blends local sensibilities with international flavors.

Together, the pair founded Hummingbird in the fall of 2023, quickly earning praise for their vegan-friendly menu, which features sandwiches, soups, salads, sweets, and other plant-based creations. Popular items include the fried cauliflower sandwich, roasted tomato soup, and flourless peanut butter brownies.

“It was always our goal to build a brand that represented healthy food done in a good way,” Chris told What Now Boston. “Ingredient-driven convenience, inexpensive, sustainable, nothing gimmicky… No labels, no pretending that something is a chicken or a fake chicken or something like that. Just real grains, vegetables, and nutrient-dense foods.

The new Andover location will focus on grab-and-go meals and retail meal prep, with all items prepared at Hummingbird’s central kitchen in Haverhill and delivered fresh daily. The chefs also plan to feature creations from local artisans that align with their mission to promote balanced, healthy lifestyles.

Additionally, the new spot will feature a collaboration with MRM Nutrition, where Chris worked for five years and built a strong relationship with the company’s owner. Their products, including protein powders, herbal teas, and health-forward pantry items, will be integrated into the menu.

“When we launched Hummingbird three years ago, MRM was always going to be a strategic partner with us because we’re very aligned as companies and people,” Chris explained. “Everything you can buy at Hummingbird will be implemented into our recipes. The line of superfoods and proteins from MRM, we use all those products in our food. It’s just such a great way to spike nutrient values in regular meals.”

The lease for the Andover space was signed just days ago, on October 1, but the team plans to move quickly. Chris says they hope to be open for at least two days a week by Christmas, while continuing regular operations in Haverhill three days a week and running their “Hummingbird on the Fly” food truck at local farmers’ markets.

“We’re really excited that people are passionate about cooking,” said Chris. “At this stage in our careers, our main passion is making a healthy impact, one bite at a time. You know, being a part of people’s lifestyles in a healthy, convenient way.”
