Italian Express Pizzeria, a beloved East Boston eatery that was forced to close its doors during the pandemic, is poised to make a return to its original location at 336 Sumner St in mid to late 2024.

Co-owners Jonathan Harker and Jim Iannuzzi recently took to Facebook to share the news, expressing gratitude for the unwavering support they’ve received from the community over their 21 years of service.

The reimagined concept will feature a fresh atmosphere, a private patio, a new pizza menu, and exciting food additions. Additionally, the co-owners are actively pursuing a full liquor license to enhance the overall guest experience.

In keeping with its commitment to community engagement, the restaurant will reintroduce its Italian Express Cares initiative, further solidifying its role as a community stronghold.

Embodying the philosophy displayed on the sign that once hung above their front door—“Enter as strangers, Leave as friends”—Harker and Iannuzzi remain dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment that goes beyond serving delicious food.
