Yesterday marked the closure of Latina Kitchen & Bar, concluding a successful four-year run. However, the vibrant space at 30 Dedham Ave in Needham won’t remain dormant for long, as a new sports bar is set to grace the location. Expected to open its doors before the end of January 2024, The Common Room is the vision of co-owners and Needham natives Tom Griffin and Scott McCourt.
Promising an enticing culinary experience, The Common Room aims to elevate the palate with a menu boasting upscale comfort food. Additionally, the owners plan to pay homage to Latina’s legacy by incorporating some of its signature dishes, a nod to retaining the culinary talent that patrons have come to appreciate.
Griffin envisions The Common Room as more than just a dining establishment, describing it as an environment that is “welcoming and comfortable”—a haven where people can congregate and truly feel at home. Adding an extra layer of positivity to the venture, Griffin shared that the local Life is Good team will help craft the perfect ambiance. With their powers of optimism, the crew aims to infuse The Common Room with a fun-loving spirit that resonates with patrons on a deeper level.
As locals bid farewell to Latina Kitchen & Bar after a remarkable four-year journey, anticipation builds for what’s next in Needham. Committed to becoming an integral part of the local fabric, The Common Room seeks to foster a sense of unity that extends beyond mere patronage, encapsulated in their mission: “We are not looking just to be in the Needham community. We’re looking to be part of it.”
