Two sisters are baking up something special in Newton Centre.
After operating Luna’s Home Bakery out of Revere for five years, Valentina and Valeria Restrepo are planning to launch their first physical storefront, Luna’s Cakes & Coffee, in a former Starbucks space at 1269 Centre St.
“What started as a love for baking and sharing special moments is now becoming a space where we can welcome you in, serve you something sweet, and be part of the everyday joys and celebrations of this incredible community,” wrote the duo in a social media post announcing the news. “We can’t wait to meet our neighbors, grow roots, and fill this little shop with warmth, laughter, and the smell of freshly baked cakes.”
The Restrepos told What Now Boston that the new store will specialize in cakes and coffee, offering Luna’s signature sweets for walk-in purchase, as well as custom cakes for special events and a variety of mini cakes and other desserts to enjoy daily.
Fan favorites include the Tres Leches—a rich sponge cake soaked in sweet milk and topped with fresh whipped cream and strawberries—and the Maria Luisa, an orange-infused sponge cake layered with dulce de leche and finished with silky American buttercream. “These beloved cakes are a perfect representation of the flavors we love to share,” the sisters explained.
Those in need of a pick-me-up can look forward to high-quality coffee, classic espresso drinks, and inventive house specials. “Several of our cakes and coffee drinks will be inspired by our Colombian culture, incorporating traditional flavors and ingredients in fresh, creative ways,” they added.
Luna’s Cakes & Coffee is scheduled to open in late summer 2025, with hours tentatively set for Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to follow the bakery on Facebook and Instagram for the latest grand opening updates.
