The duo behind a local French bread-baking business will soon open their first storefront on the North Shore.

Kathy and Laurent Dedieu are gearing up to launch Farine Bakery at 146 Washington St in downtown Marblehead. The bakery will take over the former site of Drink Station in the Old Town historic district, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

“We recently moved here after 10 years in Paris, France, with the hope of bringing [Laurent’s] delicious bread to the North Shore,” said Kathy, a North Shore native.

Farine—French for “flour”—will offer many favorites that have gained popularity at local farmers’ markets and pop-ups since the business debuted last spring, with additional items to come as the Dedieus settle into their new space.

A certified professional boulanger in France, Laurent will draw from his experience in bustling European bakeries to create a variety of artisan breads and pastries. Using traditional French artisan techniques and the finest locally sourced flour, he will craft classics such as French baguettes, country loaves, fougasse, brioche, croissants, and chocolatines.

The couple told What Now Boston that Farine Bakery is scheduled to debut in early spring 2025.
