A contemporary South Indian restaurant chain is bringing its signature dosas to Boston’s western suburbs.
Boston-born Madras Dosa Company is planning a new location in the former Bagel Table space at 9 Boylston St at The Street Chestnut Hill, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
The Street announced the news on social media, writing, “Dosa, don’t mind if we do 🍴. @madrasdosaco is coming soon to The Street. This South Indian spot will be your go-to for dosa, chaats, pulaos, & more 🇮🇳.”
A concept from Flying Lion Hospitality Group, Madras Dosa is part of a diverse portfolio that includes Don’t Tell Aunty, Boston Halal, and an upcoming Indian-Mediterranean concept. The group is also working to revive the beloved Little Steve’s Pizzeria.
Madras Dosa is known for its open kitchen, where guests can watch chefs whip up dosas—savory rice and lentil crepes—just as the restaurant’s founders once watched their mothers do at home.
Beyond its namesake dish, the menu includes:
- Pesarattu – protein-packed green lentil crepes
- Uttapam tacos – thick lentil tacos served with customizable toppings
- Paniyaram – crispy, pan-roasted rice-and-lentil dumplings
- Canteen sandwiches – a nod to the multi-layered sandwiches popular in Indian cafés
In addition to the upcoming Chestnut Hill eatery, Madras Dosa operates in Boston’s Seaport and Cambridge’s Harvard Square, as well as out-of-state locations in New York and New Jersey.
Co-founder and CEO Koushik “Babu” Koganti told What Now Boston that the new location is slated to open in late May or early June 2025, promising to share more details next week.
