A new açaí shop and café appears to be taking shape in downtown Framingham.

Moara Açaí & Café has filed a food establishment permit to open at 54 Union Ave in the coming months, according to an update from the Framingham UnFiltered Facebook page. Recently submitted business and permit filings list Marcos Gusmao as the operator behind the forthcoming café.

While details currently remain limited, the application suggests the concept will center on açaí bowls alongside café-style offerings. Patrons can expect options like customizable bowls topped with fresh fruit, granola, nut butters, and seeds, as well as grab-and-go drinks such as coffee, smoothies, and possibly light bites.

“According to the application, the café will focus on açaí and café-style offerings,” reads the Framingham UnFiltered post. “That’s exciting for downtown foot traffic and another sign that Union Ave continues to attract new investment and small business energy.”

Gusmao could not be reached for comment prior to publication, and no official opening date has been announced. Moara Açaí & Café does not yet appear to have an official website or social media presence.

Once open, the café will join a growing roster of new and upcoming food-and-drink concepts reshaping Framingham’s dining scene, including The Halal Fusion, a Dunkin’ and Jimmy John’s combination location, A South East Kitchen, and The Brass Tap Craft Beer Bar.
