A romantic Eastern Mediterranean restaurant and bar is expanding to Cambridge’s Central Square.

Moona will soon open a second location at 750 Main St. Inspired by the flavors of his childhood, owner Mohamad El Zein launched the original Inman Square eatery in 2016.

A cozy 30-seat gem, the restaurant is known for its hot and cold mezze (small plates), housemade spices, and thoughtful use of seasonal ingredients.

The name Moona is slang for the Arabic word for “storing” or “pantry,” reflecting the vital role of the pantry in Middle Eastern cuisine, especially in rural villages. Each dish incorporates Moona-made pantry items or ingredients sourced from trusted local and global purveyors.

According to The Boston Globe, the larger Central Square location will offer an all-day dining experience with a strong focus on breakfast, complemented by a “serious” coffee and tea program inspired by Arabic traditions.

El Zein told What Now Boston that the new location is slated to open in August 2025, with more details to come closer to the debut.
