Mother Anna’s, renowned for its traditional Italian cuisine with a trio of restaurants spread across Boston, has temporarily closed its original North End establishment. This closure marks a new chapter for an eatery that’s served the area for over ninety years.
A Boston Restaurant Talk source revealed that the once vibrant 211 Hanover St location now sits dark and vacant. A sign on the window reads, “closed for renovations” and “watch for our re-opening summer 2025.”
Additionally, Boston Restaurant Talk reports that a new Mother Anna’s location could be opening at 18 N Meadows Rd in Medfield. Despite What Now Boston’s efforts to glean more details, co-owner and executive chef John Caparella Jr. remains elusive, neither confirming nor denying the development.
While the specifics are minimal for now, the new restaurant will likely serve the same family recipes that Anna Travaglione served when she first opened the establishment in 1932.
Amidst the prevailing uncertainty, the Pembroke location, situated at 46 Columbia Rd and overseen by owner Alan Caparella, continues to welcome guests with its authentic Italian fair.
Stay tuned for further developments as Mother Anna’s begins its new chapter.
