A new Japanese restaurant could be coming to Somerville’s Magoun Square.
According to Boston Restaurant Talk, Sora Japan plans to take over the former site of Wang’s Chinese Cuisine at 509 Broadway.
Owner He Wang—who previously operated Wang’s Chinese Cuisine—confirmed this news with What Now Boston, noting that the project is currently in the regulatory phase.
A Somerville hearing notice indicates that the restaurant would primarily focus on takeout and delivery, with limited seating for 12 patrons. Planned operating hours extend daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
As the name implies, Sora Japan’s menu would feature Japanese-style sushi, as well as teriyaki dishes and bento boxes.
Wang said that an opening date is still uncertain. “I still wait for government to approve,” he stated. Stay tuned for updates as approvals progress.
