The Boston Conservatory at Berklee is set to enhance its facilities with the addition of three new studios and a smoothie bar called Melo.
Located at 699 Boylston St in the former TB12 fitness center space, the facility will include specialized dance outfittings, three spacious movement studios, locker rooms with showers, a common area, and an ice station, according to a recent press release.
Berklee is partnering with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality to manage the smoothie bar’s menu and daily operations. With a name that reflects the Conservatory’s music and dance theme, “Melo” aims to create a light-hearted experience that “harmonizes flavor and fun,” said Kathy Bowler, Senior District Marketing Manager at Aramark.
Among the all-natural, organic offerings are the Banana Beat Smoothie—a peanut butter and chocolate blend—and the Strawberry Ensemble Smoothie, made with Greek yogurt, bananas, apple juice, and oat milk.
Additionally, açaí bowl enthusiasts can indulge in options like the BoCo-co-nut and the Passion Drives Me bowls. These sweet sorbets come in various flavors like açaí, coconut, passion fruit, and dragon fruit, and can be topped with fresh fruits, berries, nuts, and chia seeds.
Melo’s soft opening is tentatively scheduled for January 6, 2025. Once operational, the smoothie bar will welcome both students and the general public.
Situated in the heart of Boston’s bustling Copley Square, the studios themselves will be instrumental in supporting the Conservatory’s growing dance programs. The school is currently home to 270 dance majors, with an additional 250 non-majors enrolled in dance classes.
“We are all over-the-moon excited about the new space,” said Boston Conservatory at Berklee Interim Executive Director Michael Shinn. “These studios will truly be a game changer for our dance programs.”
