A critically acclaimed, globally inspired North Cambridge restaurant is preparing for a new chapter.

Urban Hearth, helmed by James Beard Award finalist Chef Erin Miller, is relocating and expanding to 1281 Cambridge St in Cambridge’s Inman Square, according to a press release.

With renovations set to begin this winter, the reimagined space is expected to “marry sophistication and warmth,” featuring intimate table seating, an expanded six-seat chef’s counter, a full-service bar, and a cozy salon area for casual meals and small gatherings.

Miller aims to “elevate the guest experience visually, spatially, and gastronomically,” creating an atmosphere that “feels thoughtful, immersive, and refined, while remaining deeply genuine and approachable.”

While more details on the menu are expected in the coming months, Urban Hearth will continue leaning into its hallmark hyper-seasonal approach, drawing from the bounty of New England’s farms and fisheries.

The restaurant will remain operational at its current 2263 Massachusetts Ave space during the build-out. Once the new flagship launches in late Q1 or early Q2 of 2026, the original location will be transformed into a new concept from Miller and her team.

Miller’s culinary style blends classical French Culinary Institute training with a devotion to local seasonality and her own foraging practice. She was recently named a 2025 James Beard Foundation Best Chef: Northeast finalist and is the only chef to receive congressional recognition for her work. Urban Hearth has likewise earned multiple Best of Boston and Top Restaurant honors.
