It looks like a new café could be heading to Roxbury.

Royal Smith, the owner of District 7 Tavern, is planning to open a brand-new coffeehouse—District 7 Cafe—right next door at 376 Warren St, according to a report from Universal Hub.

District 7 Cafe would operate as a coffeehouse by day and a community events space by night. From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can expect breakfast, lunch, and coffee drinks. But after hours, the venue would transform into a hub for local events, with plans to stay open until 2 a.m.

Smith is also seeking a liquor license to offer drinks like mimosas during brunch service. At a recent Boston Licensing Board hearing, he pointed out the neighborhood’s lack of nearby dining options, especially those that serve alcohol. He noted that the nearest such spot is roughly a mile away.

What Now Boston has reached out to Smith for additional details about District 7 Cafe and will share updates as they become available. In the meantime, follow the coffeehouse on Facebook.
