After a decade at its 17 New Driftway location, the Rivershed restaurant in Scituate officially closed its doors yesterday, September 8, 2024.
Owner and Scituate native Kara Tondorf, who took over the establishment in 2014 when it was still JW’s Burger Bar, shared the news on social media:
“It is with very mixed emotions that we have to share the news that The Rivershed in Scituate will be closing,” she said. “We have had an amazing 10 year run and due to circumstances beyond our control we have to close the doors.”
Inspired by Tondorf’s love for the food, music, and culture of Nashville, Tennessee, Rivershed offered a diverse menu featuring burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and a variety of cocktails and mocktails.
But this isn’t the end of the road. The Rivershed location in Killington, Vermont, which opened in 2021, will continue to operate. Additionally, Tondorf has plans to open another restaurant in the area later this year.
“We realize change is hard but when one door closes another one opens…which will be happening in late fall, details on our new restaurant coming soon,” she said.
It’s currently unclear what type of fare the new restaurant will serve, or whether it will occupy the same Scituate space. What Now Boston has reached out to Tondorf for more details—stay tuned.
