An upscale casual pizzeria in Cambridge is expanding to South Boston with its signature approach: “simple things done well.”
Si Cara will open its second location at 400 W Broadway, reports Caught in Southie. While chef-owner Michael Lombardi was unavailable for comment at the time of publication, he previously confirmed the expansion with What Now Boston.
Lombardi opened the original Si Cara in 2022, bringing his take on canotto-style pizza to Central Square. Characterized by a ballooned, blistered crust, this Neapolitan-adjacent pie is beloved for its light and chewy texture. The restaurant also serves pan pizza by the slice.
Beyond the pies, the menu features Italian comfort favorites, such as eggplant parmesan and meatballs al forno, alongside sandwiches, snacks, classic cocktails, and an international selection of natural wines.
Although Si Cara is Lombardi’s first solo venture, his passion for Italian cuisine was sparked more than a decade ago during a formative stint at Ristorante Zeppelin in Orvieto. He went on to cook at New York City’s Del Posto and later helped open L’Office in Paris and SRV in Boston’s South End.
Si Cara South Boston is expected to launch in late summer or early fall 2025. For grand opening updates, follow @sicarapizza on Instagram.
