According to Boston Restaurant Talk, the last standing Papagãyo Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar location, situated at 331 Great River Rd in Somerville, has recently closed its doors. The restaurant’s website reveals that a new concept by Legendary Restaurant Group is slated to debut in the spring of 2024. Additionally, Papagãyo’s Facebook page has transitioned to Toca Chida, indicating that this will be the name of the forthcoming establishment.

Founded by chef and restaurateur Chris Damian, Legendary Restaurant Group boasts a diverse portfolio, including Sip Wine Bar + Kitchen, Civility Social House, the aforementioned Papagãyo, and the upcoming Toca Chida.

While specifics about Toca Chida remain scarce, the name (which translates to “Play Cool”) and recent Facebook posts suggest a continuation of Mexican culinary influences. A spokesperson for the restaurant told What Now Boston that more information will be available within the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned for further updates, including menu previews and the grand opening date.
