SPiN Boston will soon be expanding its current space in the Fort Point area, located at 30 Melcher Street, according to a recent permit filing.

A representative of SPiN Boston did not immediately return What Now Boston’s request for comment.

While an official opening date for the changes has yet to be confirmed, nor the extent of its expansion, the proposed amendment seeks to expand its premises within the 8-story building. The new plan includes incorporating not only the ground floor but also the second floor and basement, allowing for an enhanced experience for patrons.

In 2007, best friends Jonathan Bricklin and Franck Raharinosy had an audacious dream: to become skilled enough at ping pong to join the USA Olympic Team. To pursue their passion, they began organizing weekly ping pong parties, attracting a diverse mix of individuals from various backgrounds. Artists, actors, musicians, bankers, brokers, and even professional ping-pong players were drawn to these gatherings, creating a vibrant and exciting atmosphere that remains the essence of SPiN today.

Teaming up with retired investment banker and former tennis pro Andrew Gordon, Bricklin, and Raharinosy established SPiN’s flagship location on Park Avenue in New York City in the summer of 2009. From its inception, SPiN witnessed the global rise of a ping-pong culture and lifestyle that transcends boundaries. The game of ping pong transformed into more than just a sport; it became a symbol of fun, connection, and embracing the contradictions of life.

At SPiN Boston, ping pong is more than just a game—it’s a social experience. Embracing the social nature of the sport, SPiN ensures that its food program aligns with the lively atmosphere. The restaurant offers a diverse range of shareable, snackable, and delicious offerings that guests can enjoy while seamlessly transitioning between playing and eating. Whether it’s a quick bite between matches or a leisurely dining experience with friends, SPiN Boston’s food options cater to the diverse tastes and preferences of its patrons, according to the company website.
