A longstanding pizza shop in Dorchester is set to be demolished, but it won’t be gone for long.

The Zoning Board of Appeals has unanimously approved plans for Spukies N Pizza at 1159 Washington St to be demolished and replaced by a four-story condo building, according to Universal Hub.

Two of the 14 units will be designated as affordable housing, and all will be handicap-accessible. Once the project is complete, Spukies will reopen in the ground-floor space.

The plans include six residential parking spaces, a curb cut, new trees along the street, and the addition of a private way bordering the property.

Founded by Stavros and Theodora Retzos, Spukies offers a menu of hot and cold subs, club sandwiches, pasta, wraps, wings, salads, and calzones alongside its plentiful pies.

Theodora confirmed the news with What Now Boston and mentioned that she will share more details as the project progresses.
