A fresh take on fast-casual pizza is in the works for Burlington.
According to the Daily Times Chronicle, plans for Sunflower Organic Pizza are moving forward after the Burlington Planning Board approved the concept to open at 1 Wheeler Road. While an official opening timeline has not yet been announced, the restaurant is slated to open in the newly built Gateway Burlington retail center at the corner of Middlesex Turnpike and Wheeler Road.
The approval came during a public hearing this week, where board members reviewed a request for a special permit required to operate a “fast-order food” restaurant at the site. As part of the process, officials evaluated factors such as traffic flow, parking, and the project’s compatibility with surrounding businesses before voting to approve the plan.
Behind the concept is Woburn resident Vishal Jariwala, who is introducing a more thoughtful, ingredient-driven approach to the neighborhood. According to town filings, the menu will spotlight thoughtfully sourced ingredients such as organic dough, fresh vegetables, and high-quality toppings, offering a cleaner, more sustainable spin on classic pizza.
With approvals now in place, Sunflower Organic Pizza can begin the interior build-out of the Wheeler Road space. Once it debuts, the pizzeria will join an upcoming Kyuramen location that’s also under development at the property.
What Now Boston has reached out to Jariwala for additional details and will share updates as they become available.
