A North End breakfast sandwich favorite is headed to South Boston.

Sunny Girl, a casual café known for its stacked egg sandwiches and housemade English muffins, is preparing to open a second location at 479 W Broadway in Perkins Square, taking over the former McGoo’s Pizza space. Caught in Southie first reported the news after signage appeared at the storefront this week.

The concept first debuted in the North End in the spring of 2023, quickly becoming a go-to for early risers and sandwich lovers seeking hearty breakfast and lunch fare. The menu centers on egg sandwiches served all day, alongside a lineup of satisfying handhelds. Options include the Sunny Girl BLT, Turkey, and Italian sandwiches, as well as toasts, breakfast grilled cheeses, and a variety of burgers.

Behind the eatery are partners Jesse Rosen—whose résumé includes the Culinary Institute of America, Burnt Edge Pizza, and Good Life—and Peter Fiumara, owner of Good Life and Vinyl Index. The pair launched the concept with family in mind, naming it after their daughters: Fiumara’s daughter, Ryan, and Rosen’s daughter, Ava.

According to the eatery’s website, Fiumara’s favorite part of the day is sharing breakfast with Ryan before school, an everyday ritual that inspired the shop’s focus on comforting morning staples served from open to close. At both locations, the team aims to recreate that feeling.

An official opening date for the South Boston outpost has not yet been announced, but with signage now up at the West Broadway storefront, the new Sunny Girl appears to be approaching its Southie debut.
