A local bakery is planning its first brick-and-mortar storefront in Dorchester.
Sweet Teez Bakery will open on the ground floor of the Dot Block apartment building at 1211 Dorchester Ave, according to a Facebook update from the complex.
Founded in 2016 by Dorchester native Teresa Maynard, Sweet Teez has gained a reputation for its peanut-free cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, pies, and quiche.
For the past eight years, Maynard has operated out of Commonwealth Kitchen—a non-profit food business incubator—producing thousands of baked goods for individual customers, as well as wholesale and corporate clients.
“I look forward to opening our flagship bakery at Dot Block in the community where I was raised and where I am raising my family alongside my husband Kelvin (COO),” Maynard said in a statement. “I hope that the bakery can be a space for community members to gather, and to feel inspired and emboldened to pursue their own dreams.”
Slated to open in the fall of 2025, Sweet Teez Bakery will be the first retailer to move into Dot Block.
