What A Soup, an eagerly awaited Thai restaurant, is poised to introduce its authentic boat noodle soup to the local dining scene. Situated at 125 River St in Cambridge, the restaurant has taken over the space previously occupied by Nu Dó. Owned by Cara Man and her family, the dedicated team hopes to welcome guests in December 2023.

Celebrated for its rich and intricate flavors, boat noodle soup traces back to the twelfth century when cooks began serving it out of boats along the canals of Bangkok. Traditionally prepared with a harmonious blend of beef and pork, the soup’s broth interestingly incorporates blood.

The restaurant’s intriguing name, ‘What A Soup,’ was deliberately chosen to pique the curiosity of passersby, inviting them to savor the delectable concoction within. The owners of the restaurant, all hailing from Thailand themselves, are passionate about presenting this “uniquely delicious” soup to patrons. They plan to showcase the soup’s sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors through a variety of distinct bowls.

Prepare to embark on a flavorful journey at What A Soup, where tradition meets innovation. As December approaches, anticipation for the grand opening of this Thai gem builds, promising a dining experience that will leave guests exclaiming, “What a soup!”
