A beloved breakfast, brunch, and casual dining destination is preparing to say goodbye to Danvers—at least for now.
The Friendly Toast will close its location at 50 Independence Way at the end of the month, citing ongoing mechanical issues within the building. The restaurant’s final day of service in Danvers is scheduled for December 31. The location first opened in 2021.
In a statement shared by the company, The Friendly Toast explained that while it had previously announced plans to relocate within Danvers once its lease expired, the search has proven challenging.
“…Despite our extensive search, The Friendly Toast has not yet identified a new space in the area that meets our operational needs and maintains the experience our customers expect and deserve,” the statement said.
Until the end of the year, the restaurant will continue operating as usual, serving up creative takes on classic comfort food, including stuffed French toast, eggs Benedict, breakfast plates, burgers, and brunch cocktails.
According to a Patch article, the company emphasized its commitment to staff during the transition, noting that all employees have been offered a bonus to remain through the final day of service, along with opportunities to transfer to a nearby location.
“The Friendly Toast remains committed to finding a new space in Massachusetts’ North Shore,” the company said. “We’ve loved serving the Danvers community and are extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from our guests and neighbors over the past four years. We plan to keep searching for a space that feels right for our team and for our customers.”
Founded in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, The Friendly Toast now operates multiple locations across New England, including several Massachusetts outposts in Boston’s Back Bay, Burlington, North Andover, Chestnut Hill, Dedham, and Harvard Square.
