Salem is about to get a little rowdier.

The Goat, a country-themed whiskey bar and burger joint, is opening its fifth location in the former American Flatbread space at 311 Derby St, according to a Facebook post from the business.

“Secret is out!” the team wrote. “We can’t wait to see you in Salem, Massachusetts! Stay tuned for updates.”

This new outpost will be The Goat’s closest to Boston, joining existing sites in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and in Manchester, Hampton, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Since its founding in 2014, The Goat has become known for its creative burgers, expansive whiskey list, homestyle brunches, live music, and quirky, down-home atmosphere.

The chain is part of The Fleury Group, which oversees several restaurants, bars, and real estate ventures throughout New Hampshire.

What Now Boston has reached out to husband-and-wife operators Albert and Erica Fleury for more details, so stay tuned for grand opening updates.
