A new bar and restaurant is gearing up to debut in Dorchester’s Savin Hill neighborhood, according to the Dorchester Reporter.

James Baker and John McDonough, co-owners of The Daily Market, plan to open The Nightly on the second story of the same building at 110 Savin Hill Ave.

During a recent Columbia-Savin Hill Civic Association meeting, Baker outlined his vision to make the building “the heart of the community” by enhancing services for local residents.

Originally, the restaurant was slated to take over the basement with a co-working space upstairs, but the plans have changed. Now, the main restaurant will be located on the second floor, while the third floor will house an event space. The basement will primarily function as a prep area, with a small take-out section offering seating for 15.

The redesign increases the building’s seating capacity from 133 to 215 and the overall occupancy from 217 to 255. The second floor will feature a full bar and restaurant with an occupancy of 120, including space on the terrace.

The third floor will feature a dining area, private event space, and a seasonal outdoor terrace that will operate from March through November. Baker highlighted plans to make the terrace versatile with a pergola that can be adjusted for weather conditions, making it “the place where people are going to want to be.”

The Nightly will offer a casual Italian-inspired menu featuring pizza, pasta, salads, and sides. Baker and McDonough aim to create a “reliable, consistent, neighborhood feel” in a “comforting and welcoming environment.”

Looking ahead, they plan to introduce a catering menu for private events, with The Nightly’s full menu available throughout the bar, dining room, lounge, and terrace. The Nightly will operate Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The team is scheduled for a transactional hearing with the Boston Licensing Board on October 16. After finalizing design and architectural plans, construction is expected to begin early next year, with the third-floor event space opening in early 2025.
