A local barbecue favorite is making its way to the northwest suburbs of Boston.
Known for its American-style barbecue and robust whiskey selection, The Smoke Shop BBQ is set to open its seventh location at 18 Boston Rd, Suite 100 in Chelmsford‘s Town Center, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
Chef-owner Andy Husbands, a pitmaster with over 20 years of competition experience, briefly confirmed this news with What Now Boston, promising to share more details soon.
In addition to its award-winning barbecue plates, platters, and sandwiches, The Smoke Shop offers wings, sliders, and classic Southern sides like cornbread, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. For breakfast lovers, the East Boston location serves up a Sunday brunch menu starring brisket eggs Benedict, biscuits ‘n’ gravy, and smoked breakfast sausage.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, The Smoke Shop is already whetting appetites with a special pop-up event at the Chelmsford location today, May 16, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to announce we will be doing a pop-up to celebrate our new Chelmsford location!” Husbands shared on The Smoke Shop BBQ’s website. “We’re offering the Chelmsford community an exclusive preview of our tasty BBQ before we officially open.”
Once it debuts, the new location will join existing Smoke Shop sites in Methuen, Woburn, Somerville, Cambridge, East Boston, and the Seaport District. Previous outposts were located in Cambridge’s Kendall Square and Boston’s Hub Hall.
