Boston Children’s Museum will soon welcome a vibrant new café designed with little ones in mind.

The Tot Café—a Little Cocoa Bean Co. venture—will open inside the museum at 308 Congress St along the Fort Point Channel later this spring, owner Tracy Skelly announced on social media.

Skelly founded Little Cocoa Bean Co. in 2019 after struggling to find nutrient-rich, culturally diverse baby foods for her daughter. Inspired by the heritage foods of the African Diaspora, she began crafting homemade baby food using fresh, healthy ingredients like collards, chayote, papaya, and tamarind.

Skelly’s passion eventually evolved into The Tot Café, which she launched in early 2023 as a community hub where parents and their children could eat, play, learn, and connect. On March 9, 2025, Skelly announced the closure of The Tot Café’s original Jamaica Plain location to focus on the long-term health of the business.

Just days later, however, she revealed the exciting next chapter. “Little Cocoa Bean is growing! 🌱,” she shared on social media. “This spring, we will be opening a café inside @bostonchildrensmuseum ! 🎉”

The new café will serve dishes “for the young and young-at-heart,” with a seasonally-shifting menu featuring rainbow waffles, vegan alphabet pasta, unicorn yogurt (greek yogurt, dragonfruit with fruit purée, and sprinkles), smoothies, and juices—plus coffee and tea for the grown-ups.

“We can’t wait to bring our mission—nutritious, kid-friendly food in a welcoming space—to even more families,” Skelly said.
