An upscale Lebanese restaurant is making its way to Boston’s South End.
BEY is taking over a two-story space at 280 Shawmut Ave, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. The new concept comes from the Samaha family, with Lena Samaha listed as the manager on a licensing board hearing page.
Prior to this new venture, the family operated The Studio South End, a yoga studio formerly housed in the same space. They also run two other local eateries: Al Wadi in West Roxbury and Nicole’s Pizza, which has locations in both the South End and Jamaica Plain.
Nadine Samaha, partner and general manager at Al Wadi, confirmed the news but noted she’s currently out of the country on vacation. “Once we have our final details in order would love to share our vision!” she wrote in a text, adding that no official opening date has been set yet.
Still, a preview is already live on BEY’s Google Business page:
Experience the exquisite flavors of Lebanon at Bey, a fine dining restaurant located in the heart of Boston. Journey through authentic Lebanese cuisine, expertly crafted and presented with elegance. Discover a culinary escape where traditional recipes meet modern sophistication, creating a memorable dining experience.
According to Universal Hub, diners can expect a “curated menu of traditional Lebanese offerings” similar to those at Al Wadi, with an expanded selection of vegetarian dishes. To ease potential neighborhood concerns, the family plans to install rubber acoustic matting, a rooftop ventilation system, front window shades to minimize nighttime light, and a system for removing trash through the front of the building.
City filings show that the 1,800-square-foot space will seat 41 guests on the ground floor and another 26 in the basement. BEY is seeking a full liquor license and plans to remain open until 2 a.m.
