A Wilmington-born chicken-finger joint is spreading its wings just northwest of Boston.
Frangos Chicken Fingers is opening its second location at 199 Boston Rd in North Billerica’s Treble Cove Plaza, the eatery announced on Instagram: “BILLERICA are you ready?! 🚨 Frangos is officially making Billerica our next home — and we’re bringing the flavor, the energy, and the full Frangos experience with us.”
Founded by CEO Ahmed Hmina in 2023, Frangos began as a ghost kitchen before evolving into a full fast-casual restaurant.
The name “Frangos” comes from the Portuguese word for chicken, explained Abdul Hmina, Ahmed’s father, in an interview with What Now Boston. “We went through a lot of silly names, but finally we said, let’s call it a chicken in a different language. [Ahmed] said ‘Frango,’ and we added the S because it felt fun, like McDonald’s or Wendy’s… And the rest is history.”
Frangos is known for its crispy chicken fingers and array of signature sauces, but the menu also features grilled cheese sandwiches, Texas toast, fries, and chocolate chip cookies, as well as fresh-squeezed lemonades and a variety of other drinks.
Frangos also emphasizes community connection. Abdul said the brand quickly became a favorite spot for the community, supporting local sports clubs and prioritizing quality and customer service.
The new North Billerica location will offer seating and takeout in a 2,500-square-foot space, similar to the Wilmington flagship. While an official opening date hasn’t been publicly announced, Abdul projected it will be ready by the third week of January 2026.
In addition to the upcoming North Billerica location, Frangos has two more locations slated to open in 2026, though exact sites and timelines have not yet been announced.
