A tropical Asian-American oasis in Cambridge may soon expand to Boston’s Seaport District.
According to a post in the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants Facebook group, Wusong Road is planning a second location at an undisclosed address along the South Boston waterfront. Though chef-owner Jason Doo declined to comment when reached by What Now Boston, the poster mentioned that a waiter at the original eatery shared the news.
Boston Restaurant Talk reporter Marc Hurwitz also chimed in, noting that the project is still in its early stages. “I don’t think they’ve even had a neighborhood meeting yet and they definitely haven’t had a licensing board hearing,” he wrote.
Founded in 2021, Wusong Road is a two-story, tiki-inspired retreat located in the Harvard Square Conductor’s Building. The venue is named after the first train station in Wusong, China, near the Doo family’s hometown of Shanghai.
Drawing inspiration from his parents’ Malden restaurant, Chef Doo serves up contemporary Chinese-American dishes such as cauliflower kung pao (vegan), crab rangoons, and coconut spareribs, plus plenty of handcrafted tiki cocktails and sweet treats.
The first floor houses a Hong Kong-style deli and tiki bar, while the second features a full-service restaurant, a larger tiki bar, and a semi-private events space. The vibrant getaway is adorned with basket lamps, tropical wallpaper, masks, monkeys, and colorful statues.
Stay tuned for updates as more details about the Seaport site emerge.
