Arlington Center is preparing to welcome its newest culinary gem, Zomsa. The restaurant is set to open its doors in late December 2023 or early January 2024, taking the place of Taipei-Tokyo at 434 Massachusetts Ave.

Zomsa is the brainchild of Ravi Raj Rajkarnikar, a seasoned chef and one of seven partners in this promising venture. Ravi and his friends, many of whom boast extensive experience in the food industry, are determined to provide a unique South Asian dining experience in a town where restaurant closures have become all too common.

Their mission is to infuse the local culinary landscape with a rich tapestry of flavors from Nepal, India, and a touch of Tibet. Notably, they’re embracing the trend of ‘momos,’ a Nepali version of dumplings that has recently taken the culinary world by storm.

Ravi’s story is one of ambition and passion. Originally from Nepal, he arrived in the U.S. through the Diversity Visa Program in 2007. Back home, his family runs several successful restaurants, and it is in those establishments that Ravi honed his culinary skills.

As Zomsa eagerly awaits necessary permits and final preparations, Arlington residents can look forward to an unforgettable South Asian experience in the near future. With a dedicated team and a diverse menu, Zomsa is poised to become a delicious addition to the local dining scene.
