Golf entertainment venue 3’s is set to expand into the Charlotte area after its holding company, 3 Cheers Holdings LLC, secured the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Indian Trail.

The company bought the 33-acre golf course for $1.5 million, according to Charlotte Business Journal. 3’s appears to have plans to renovate the golf course to model its original Greenville location and is expected to open in 2025, with a goal to open during the summer.

The spot in Indian Trail will be the second location for the golf entertainment company, which founder and hospitality industry veteran Davis Sezna first opened in 2020. Investors including 8AM Golf and Justin Timberlake joined as partners in 2022.

3’s brand is built on the idea of casual golf. The Greenville location features a 12-hole course of par-3 holes. It aims to “welcome regular golfers and newbies alike for an irresistibly fun and non-intimidating new kind of golf experience,” according to its website. It even offers illuminated golf balls and a course that lights up after 10:30 p.m.

“You’re having fun and you don’t worry about missing a shot,” Sezna said. “You’re out with family or friends and you’re just laughing and giggling rather than trying to execute golf shots on a conventional golf course. When it’s all par-3’s, it’s very entertaining. And every par-3 will be visually different. So there will be 12 different stories, 12 different green complexes.”

Sezna says the Charlotte location will be similar in design to the Greenville location. There are also plans for a large putting green course and a 4-5 acre practice area.

The golf spot also features a fast-casual restaurant and bar area called The Grubhouse, a modern twist on a classic clubhouse. It features bites and snacks as well as entrees like its smash burger, Carolina hot chicken and cheese steak. The Grubhouse reflects the laid-back atmosphere of the brand, offering hangout spots around firepits, music, food, drinks and merchandise.

“It sets the tone for excellent food in a casual way,” Sezna said. “Our food and mixology are as important to us as the golf is.”

Sezna said that 3’s plans to expand to additional locations, and the Charlotte market is their first location toward scaling the brand.

“Charlotte is a dynamic market with an awful lot of nice people with a great spirit for the game of golf,” Sezna said. “It’s a terrific demographic and a lot of golf fans. I think Charlotte is a wonderful market and if I’ve done my job, then you are going to enjoy coming out [to 3’s] for a number of different reasons.”
