After being sold for $8.5 million, Best Western in Charlotte’s lower South End at 242 E. Woodlawn Road is getting a massive remodel under new ownership.

Sunrise Hotel & Investments LLC recently sold the 97-room hotel to Primo Investments, which includes LoSo Hospitality, a North Carolina-based limited liability company with a 60% stake, according to Charlotte Business Journal. South Carolina-based Harmony Hospitality LLC owns the remaining 40%. The 40,000-square-foot, three-story building will receive $1.3 million in investments to transition this location to Best Western Plus.

“Guests will enjoy a fully renovated hotel that provides a fresh look at a reasonable price point,” Chase Dewese, first vice president of investments at Marcus & Millichap’s Charlotte office, told the Business Journal.

Currently, the Best Western has a fitness center, continental breakfast, self-parking, laundry facilities, meeting space, and a business center. With this new investment, the new ownership will bring in a fresh interior with the possibility of even more amenities. Most Best Western Plus locations feature on-site restaurants, bars, hot tubs, and spas. This location will remain open during renovations.

With this development, Best Western will have opened or renovated most of its locations in the greater Charlotte area as Best Western Plus, with the SureStay Studio by Best Western Charlotte Executive Park being the only non-Plus location. There is no timeline for the renovations. Hitesh Patel will lead the changes for the hotel as the President of Prime Investments. His experience as the General Manager at Best Western in Rock Hill will significantly assist him in this process.
