Regional breakfast concept Biscuitville Fresh Southern is expanding with a new location in Indian Land at the corner of Fort Mill Highway 160 and Highway 521.
The family-owned business will move into the Edgewater Commons sometime this summer, according to Untap Indian Land. The 2,900-square-foot location is currently under construction and is expected to open in Summer 2023. Around the same time, the company is planning to open new locations in Florence and Hartsville. When these locations open, customers can expect a fast-food restaurant that specializes in the traditional southern breakfast made from scratch and with local ingredients.
Biscuitville Fresh Southern has been largely considered one of the best breakfast fast-food concepts in the country. USA Today has ranked Biscuitville among its ten best regional fast-food restaurants. At the same time, Food & Wine magazine has named the restaurant the “Best Quick-Service Restaurant in North Carolina,” according to the company’s website. This is because of the food’s quality and the unique experience, where customers get to watch the bakers make biscuits fresh from scratch right in front of them every 15 minutes.
For over half a century, the company has used the same, Carolina-born family recipe, using just three ingredients: locally milled flour, buttermilk, and shortening. The flour in the biscuits is their proprietary blend that uses locally sourced wheat milled by a 5th-generation, family-owned mill in Newton, North Carolina. The eggs used by the company come from farms in western North Carolina and southwestern Virginia and are 100% naturally raised and antibiotics-free.
