A brand new intimate cocktail experience called Blue Door is making its debut early next year in South End, located at 1508 S. Mint St.
Eric and Kate Gussin, the owners of multimillion-dollar electronic dance music venue and lounge Trio, are getting to open an intimate yet social eatery in the former home of Bardo early next year, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The 1,734-square-foot will feature a midcentury-modern flair with bar seating and high-top tables. The new minimalistic-influenced space will have seating for about 60 people.
“We’re ready to hit the ground running. We’re not in a rush. We want to make sure it’s done right,” Gussin tells the Business Journal. “Timing really just depends on what we can execute in that space. As we get older, the nightlife scene is changing for us. We really like enjoying a more sophisticated night out. South End, in specific, needs something like this. We still want that atmosphere, just not in a loud, dancing, high-energy environment.”
The concept will serve as an opposite experience to the owner’s other concept across the street. When Blue Door opens early next year, customers can expect a full bar with plenty of cocktails and potentially a create-your-own espresso martini bar. Owners are currently looking for someone to run the cocktail program who will also help build the menu. There will also be some food options that are currently being developed. At the moment, the owners are planning to close off and shrink down the space’s open kitchen, allowing the company to partner with a chef for a private dining experience.
