Olde Mecklenberg Brewery (OMB) has a fourth location in the works, slated to open in Cornelius in 2027.

James Birch, the chief operating officer for OMB, told What Now Charlotte that the project has been delayed by site alterations, but the taproom and biergarten in Cornelius is happening.

“The reason for the location is that as Charlotte is going, we think it’s a huge opportunity to bring the OMB brand into the neighborhoods,” Birch said. “So far with what we’ve done in Ballantyne, we feel really confident about that. The northern part of Charlotte is growing as quickly if not more quickly than the south part of Charlotte, so that’s definitely something that will happen.”

The brand, headed by John Marrino, has locations in LoSo and Ballantyne, with another one in the pipeline for next year in Mount Holly. Birch said that the goal is to grow the brand in the Charlotte region and place locations in different neighborhoods within the Charlotte market.
