A new fast-casual, Cajun-Creole restaurant called Cajun Market is coming to Uptown Charlotte, located at 210 East Trade St.

The new restaurant is one of several eateries coming to the Queen City Quarter development, formerly known as the EpiCentre, with renovations starting last week, according to Axios. Owner Harold Lagroue tells What Now Charlotte he initially planned to open this restaurant in San Diego, with the intention of expanding to Charlotte after that, but the city’s permitting process was too complicated. He says he is focusing on Charlotte and is in the middle of the permitting process. There is no exact opening date.

Cajun Market will offer authentic Cajun food in a fast-casual format, offering Cajun-Creole favorites direct from Louisiana’s Bayou Country. Largoue tells What Now the food will be made fresh in Lafayette and shipped to Charlotte to be made-to-order. He also plans to start franchising this business once the flagship restaurant is operating. Other businesses coming to Queen City Quarter include Nostalgia Hollow Co., Super Icy Brothers, Portal 123, and, most recently announced, a new restaurant called Sea Grill Restaurant and Bar.

When the new restaurant opens later this year, customers can expect signature dishes such as chicken & sausage gumbo, crawfish etouffee, seafood gumbo, shrimp creole, and more. To complement these favorites, the restaurant will play great Cajun, Zydeco, and New Orleans music to create an authentic Cajun-Creole experience. The restaurant will open every day at 11 am and close at 9 pm from Sunday through Thursday and at 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. Cajun Market will also offer delivery and carry-out.
