Caribou Coffee, a Minnesota-based coffee shop with more than 700 coffeehouses worldwide, is opening a new site in Huntersville at 8908 Lindholm Dr.
The company’s fifth Charlotte location is the newest tenant announced for Birkdale Place, a new $65 million mixed-use project across from Birkdale Village on the south side of N.C. Highway 73, according to Charlotte Business Journal. The new corporate-owned location is expected to open by the end of the year, along with other recently announced tenants, including Napa on Providence, TD Bank, and Salon Lofts. The project will sit on 15.6 acres within Birkdale Golf Club.
Caribou Coffee, founded by John and Kim Puckett in 1992, has expanded throughout the country with the help of franchising and strong core values and purpose, creating day-making experiences and “going beyond the beans,” as they say on its website. On top of serving delicious drink and food options, including various coffee and tea, as well as all-day breakfast, pastries, lunch, and more, Caribou Coffee also provides an annual Environment, Social, and Governance progress report that illustrates how connecting over coffee sparks authentic inspiration, impact, and change.
“Caribou Coffee has always been a trailblazer, from innovating exciting beverages to integrating sustainable practices that make a difference: We are committed to sourcing 100 percent of our coffee from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms, supporting biodiversity, conservation, and improved communities for our farmers,” according to the company’s website. “We source only cage-free eggs for our primary egg supply (eggs used in our All-Day Breakfast menu) in the United States. We are committed to sourcing cage-free eggs in our primary and secondary supply globally and will meet this commitment by 2025.”
