Owner Rob Jacik and the team at Carolina Beer Temple have big plans for a new 6,800 square feet at 215 N. Ames St. in Matthews.
Jacik told the Charlotte Business Journal that he plans to invest $1 million in the expansion project, which will include more room for Carolina Beer Temple as well as a new venture, Ames Street Marketplace.
Carolina Beer Temple will take over 3,000 square feet of the new space, relocating from its current location at 195 N Trade St.
Carolina Beer Temple first opened in 2013, serving a wide variety of draft beers as well as to-go cans and bottles. Over the years, it has become a hub for events, as well.
The new space will allow for more events, featuring an outdoor space and a 1,200-square-foot mezzanine for private events. Jacik told What Now Charlotte that the new space will allow them to overcome many of the limitations they are encountering in their current location.
“This location addresses almost every issue that we have,” Jacik said. “We don’t have a kitchen or food options — we are just a craft beer bar. This location will have food options on site.”
The other 4,000 square feet will go toward the Ames Street Marketplace. The marketplace will include a restaurant, a cocktail bar and a gaming store.
Jacik will also offer 100-300 square feet of retail space to other vendors, with potential for about six vendors to set up shop in the marketplace. Jacik intends for this model to be a way for small businesses to get their start, he told the Business Journal.
Jacik said he is looking forward to the potential for growth in the new space.
“The sheer size of the space opens it up to us being able to do bigger and larger events, which we’re really limited on in our current location,” Jacik said. “So we’re super excited about everything we’re going to be able to do in the new spot.”
The expansion is expected to be complete in winter 2025, with a target date in January or early February, Jacik told What Now Charlotte.
