Graham Worth is bringing The Common Market to the Raleigh market next year, with plans to open in a 4,700-square-foot space at Seaboard Station at 807 Halifax St.
This fifth location for the Charlotte-based brand will join three existing locations in Charlotte and one spot in Durham, which opened a couple years ago. As a Raleigh native, Worth is looking forward to bringing the concept to Raleigh.
“I’ve always wanted to get something in this market. I’ve been looking for a while,” Worth told What Now Charlotte. “I do feel like this market has a lot of opportunity with what our company can bring, so I feel like it will be a great opportunity to expand to a different market.”
This spot will be similar to existing locations for The Common Market and will feature a large patio area. It will offer its traditional menu items, including deli items and a bar serving drinks like craft beer. However, rather than offering its usual drip and iced coffee, this location will also feature a full coffee bar.
The Common Market, which has been part of the Charlotte community since it opened in Plaza Midwood in 2002, aims to offer a community-centered space merging a market, deli and bar.
“I think this location, like our other locations, will continue to be neighborhood- and community-focused,” Worth said. “We’re looking for people who want the proverbial third place to hang out, make new friends and feel comfortable coming into the space. We’re hoping the Raleigh location will fall into that same line of plans.”
Moving forward, Worth sees future growth for the brand, though there are no additional locations in the pipeline at this time. He opens about one store about every two years, focusing on ensuring the business model works instead of expanding rapidly.
“I think there will be some potential continued opportunity for other stores,” Worth said. “My philosophy for growing the business has always been slow and steady.”
Construction has just started on the spot heading to Seaboard Station. With a lot of work still to come, Worth and his team are targeting a spring 2026 opening.
